Fitness, Yoga, and More!

Prenatal Yoga

There are many different fitness options for pregnant women. As part of a healthy lifestyle, NOVA Natural Birth Center midwives recommend their clients stay active throughout their pregnancies. Whether from a structured class like prenatal Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, free-form working out at the gym, or even just walking, taking time to include fitness in your lifestyle can contribute to better circulation, appropriate weight gain, and a greater sense of wellbeing.

Yoga can teach you how breathe and relax in a way that will help you adjust to the physical demands of pregnancy, labor, and birth. By centering and focusing on your breathing, you can improve your quality of sleep, reduce stress, increase flexibility, and decrease aches and pain.

NOVA Natural Birth Center and Beloved Yoga in partnership are proud to offer Prenatal Yoga at the Birth Center. Come experience a gentle and safe practice that offers the tools and techniques of yoga to provide an optimal, joy-filled journey. This supportive class for expecting Moms is designed to alleviate common complaints of pregnancy and develop health and well-being. Through community dialogue, yoga postures, breath work , meditation, and relaxation, you will learn tools to support you during pregnancy, labor and delivery. Join us as you bond with your baby, and connect with other expecting Moms. The class is open to expecting moms in any stage of pregnancy. Yoga experience is not required.

Just this week, we accepted into care an amazing first time mom who was very unhappy with her current midwife office. She is 39.5 weeks. Another mom was fed up with how her current OB/GYN was managing her care. She is 35.1 weeks. It is never too late to make a change that may change the way you birth! #KNOWYOUROPTIONS #Midwifery #NOVABirthCenter #InformedChoice #NaturalBirth ... See MoreSee Less

I think I was over 30 weeks when I made the switch from my obgyn 5 years ago - definitely the best decision I made regarding my births.

Love it!

Ha! I told a post-40wks mama to call you a few months back, when her provider was suddenly wanting to change the game plan. I don't know if she ever called, but I switched from an ob/gyn once and was glad I did!

My sister changed providers at 36 weeks and was so thankful she followed her intuition to do so. She ended up having two babies with the new provider who also was their PCP for years!

True, but always preferable to start care as early as possible to get acquainted and build a solid relationship!
