Avoid a crowded waiting room. Don’t worry about sitting undressed on a cold examination table. Our visits are held in our birthing rooms in a warm, intimate setting. Imagine spending a few quiet minutes while in our gorgeous “living room” lobby. Sip a cool drink, then accept a warm welcome hug.
In the midst of our beautiful and friendly atmosphere, your up to one hour long prenatal visit will include all that is found at a typical prenatal visit. However, the differences are obvious. Find all of the caring support you may need as you navigate your pregnancy.
Lab tests and ultrasounds are completed, as needed. Although some are required, most you may choose. Prenatal visits in an uncomplicated pregnancy are every month, every two weeks or weekly depending on the trimester of pregnancy. Clients planning a home birth may have their 36 week visit at home. Do you live further out and desire a completely homebirth care option? Our Homebirth Team will provide complete midwifery care in the comfort of your home. Click here for details.
Throughout your pregnancy, you’ll want to know what is coming next. We will invite you to a couple of optional, but fun, group sessions to inform and prepare you for what to expect at 28 and 36 weeks. It is also a great time to meet others who are also planning to have their baby with us.
There is a home visit by your midwives 2 to 3 days after the birth for clients who live in Virginia. Special arrangements can be made if you need flexible appointment times to allow for work or childcare.
